HOW MANY SWIMSUITS SHOULD YOU BRING ON A TWO-WEEK VACATION/ CRUISE?

HOW MANY SWIMSUITS SHOULD YOU BRING ON A TWO-WEEK VACATION/ CRUISE?

July 17, 2024

Packing for a sunny weekend away? Throwing a couple of classic bikinis in your bag should do the trick. Planning out your beachwear options for a 14-day trip? Now that’s a little more complicated! Mini breaks usually mean one or two beach days and maybe a couple of hours spent relaxing by the pool. However, with two full weeks to enjoy, you’ll likely need a few more stylish and adaptable bathing suit options. From daily sea swimming and morning dips in the pool to sailing excursions and maybe even a spot of snorkeling, scuba diving, or kayaking. The more activities you take part in, the more you’ll need to plan out your swimwear lineup to fit the day. So, to make deciding on just how many swimsuits you’ll need to pack and which styles will suit the overall vibe of your trip a little easier, we’ve come up with the simple guide below. Keep scrolling to discover all you’ll need for a super fun and stylish fortnight in sunnier climes…

For 14 dreamy days of ultra relaxation
If your travel itinerary consists mainly of sipping ice-cold drinks poolside with a good book in hand, you may need fewer swimsuits than you think. That said, as with every type of vacation we’ll cover here, how many bikinis and one piece bathing suits you choose to pack will be down to personal preference. Whilst some can quite happily spend their entire vacation switching between two simple looks, others will crave variety and want to take plenty of cute bathing suits in various prints and colors along to give themselves options. So, do whatever feels best for you!

Our advice? If you’re hoping to mix your looks up whilst you soak in some well-deserved relaxation time, pack 5-7 luxury swimsuits. When you plan to practically live in swimwear for the next two weeks, think of it as if packing outfits for two weeks rather than it functioning as swimwear alone. This number will give you tons of options, especially if you take a mix of bikinis and one piece swimwear.

For a chic two-week cruise
When it comes to cruises, how many swimsuits you’ll need can vary greatly depending on the type of trip you’re envisaging. Do you plan on spending 90% of your time in the pool, shooting down water slides, and heading out on every scuba diving and snorkeling excursion available? Or, will you spend your time relaxing in the onboard bars, sunbathing on the deck, and soaking in all of the entertainment?

If it’s the former, pack as many suits as you would for a regular sun-soaked two-week vacay. If the second option sounds more like your speed, just a couple of bikinis and/or one piece swimsuits should do the trick.

For a perfectly balanced fortnight of unwinding and exploring
Need a chic selection of sustainable swimwear that’s just as perfect for laid-back pool days as it is for water sports at the beach? We recommend packing between 5-8 summer swimsuits. When your vacation is the perfect mix of kicking back and adventure-seeking, a classic one piece swimsuit is ideal. Eternally versatile, it’ll work seriously hard in your vacation closet no matter where you’re headed. What’s more, you can wear it for sea swimming, dips in the pool, and all the more physical activities you have planned.

Once you have your one piece swimwear sorted, be sure to throw in a few bikinis. This way you can change up your beachwear looks and styles depending on the temperature and the type of day you have planned.

For two action-packed weeks in the sunshine
If two weeks packed full of fun, adventurous activities is your ideal way of letting off steam and feeling truly relaxed, we totally get it. Swimming in vast open water, sailing the open seas, and maybe even a surfing lesson or two sounds like a dream summer vacation. And, once your itinerary’s in place, all you’ll need is the perfect swimwear to see you stylishly and securely through your getaway.

Since you’ll most likely be spending the majority of your time in various summer bikinis and full coverage one piece swimsuits you may be tempted to pack one for each day! However, you may be surprised to learn we recommend packing just 4-5 bikinis/swimsuits for this type of trip. Why? Firstly, whilst you’ll want your beachwear to look and feel as beautiful as possible, you’re less likely to find yourself making multiple ‘outfit’ changes every day. Full days spent adventuring on a boat mean you’ll need one or two swimwear options at most. You won’t exactly be popping in and out of your hotel room all day to switch up your look! So, instead, stock your suitcase with 4-5 high-quality, sustainable designer swimwear options that keep you feeling equally chic and comfortable.

Also, if you’re someone that likes to be in swimwear at all times, try styling cute bathing suits beneath dresses floaty wide-leg pants, a beautiful beach maxi dress, or a simply use a linen shirt as a casual swimsuit cover up. This look is perfect for casual meals and drinks, plus you might not fancy sitting down to dinner in a wet bikini following a late afternoon splash in the pool so having more than a couple of your best swimsuits with you is key!
